At Least We'll All Be Gone

That grab-it-now gouging at the face and guts of the earth will have to stop quite soon
That utter waste of building things with which only to kill and destroy, that surely ends as well
Not much longer will all these river systems simply be used by us solely as convenient drains
At least our incessant, foolish, noisy, advertising braying can’t go on forever

Happily, the car salesmen, real estate agents, lawyers and bankers will also disappear, real soon
Thank god that any day now we’ll stop making pointless noise just because we think we can
At least we’ve unknowingly but irrevocably rushed beyond many decisive tipping points
In any case, blowing shit up in celebration will be forgotten in a very short geologic timeframe

The fall of our lamely-glitzed entertainment empire will be a most pleasant side-effect
At least our wasteful but paranoid night lights will be replaced once more by honest darkness
At a minimum, we can rejoice in the eternal loss of the invisible wisdom of our corporate fathers
Thankfully, politicians will no longer read speechesn that their donors had others write for them

At least no more toxic wastes will be illegally dumped secretly, but profitably, in the night
Fool treehuggers wont have to feel responsible for killing off recently-cataloged, unstudied species
Happily the refrain of ‘too expensive in jobs and money’ won’t ever be voiced again
Healthcare rationing will no longer be a worry as both patients and providers rapidly decline

Maybe the ocean will re-attain its balance far more quickly than greenie whiners ever said
Luckily, its impossible for us to expunge every single living cell on this entire planet
At most only 99% of all the amphibians will be poisoned, infected or bulldozed into oblivion
At least the malls will decompose quickly and the McMansions will be rapidly overgrown

In any case, squishes wont be around to whine about how much they miss those stupid songbirds
Adieu to the mass plunder of simple faith by fictional religions twisted to greedy ends
At least the end of corporate-created, artificially-induced over-consumption is close at hand
One good by-product is the silencing of our loud pride in our willful ignorance and illiteracy

Officials wont need expensive fictions to justify preemptively-defensive wars of liberation
At least tons of foolishly wasted reusable resources will no longer be buried with our toxic wastes
The omnipresent backbeat of political and advertising propaganda will fall silent at last
Finally, the Jews and all their many enemies will lay down together in an everlasting peace

At least all of us wont have to pay for yet another of their foolish financial meltdowns
Happily, our teens wont text a thousand empty but expensive messages per week
Our emissions will be cut to nothing without any intrusive regulations or wasteful taxes
We can stop ignoring the fact that our own overpopulation causes almost all of our problems

Mercifully, more 14 hour per day Chinese wage slaves living 20 to a room won’t be needed
Amen to death to any infidels choosing incorrectly from our many fictional One True Gods
Without regrets, the end of our holocaust against the domestic animals will come to pass
At least, it will be quite obvious that we cannot shortchange any more future generations

Paradoxically Praying For Reason

Praying to be able to use Your gift of reason to evade the faiths we invented, now used to control us
Trusting in god to permit us to co-exist with all the false-god tricked infidels filling his world
Beseeching him to allow us to stumble upon our own good solutions at our own slow pace
Hoping ‘He’ need not bother to take the time to watch over us at every single moment, 24x7x365

Asking for the blessing of logic to fight off the polished spin of smarmy religious propagandists
Reveling in the wonders, but not mindlessly labeling random tragedies as his unfathomable will
Casting off the myth of some mysterious plan which we must accept, but cannot ever understand
Seeking freedom from mind-numbing, rote-memory fundamentalist literalism, of any stripe

Paradoxically praying that the siege of science by dogmatic religions will somehow be lifted
Asking him to permit us to recreate the worn out legends we have so warped and attributed to him
Pleading to be freed from the psychic bondage they control us with, in his fictional name
Working towards salvation from abusive dogma via reproducible and peer-reviewed results

Casting a blind eye on religious monuments while looking closely within at our empty mystery
Rejecting their narrow and self-centered myth of eternal souls, granted only to we humans
Praying their religious franchises go bankrupt but their churches at last be put to some good use
Calling out the power-hungry who would use our simple need to faith to their own greedy ends

Searching for strength to cast off their easy answers and face the existential questions we fear most
Praying for a faith that does not seek to control us thru ignorance, fear and superstition
Seeking great human wisdom, but not revealed truth in that good literature of scripture
Begging these gods we call love not to order that we smite one another once again, in their names

Asking him to halt the lame demand, mouthed in every political speech that he bless this country
Needing his wisdom to stop righteously killing one another over fictional religions we alone invented
Looking for true inspiration while rejecting wornout fairytales and sighing over children’s prayers
Replacing comic certitude with lonely wailing, shoulder to shoulder, like wolves under cold stars

Praying for reason that we shall not be tricked into misplacing our precious faith once again
Probing for answers without any guidance from an infallible pope’s pompous pronouncements
Placing our belief in mysteries we lack the tools to study or the wisdom to understand
Throwing off their twisted dictums arising from frightened foolishness beaten into revered tradition

Mocking their pomp and pretense while unmasking their empty threats of silly perdition
Combing their worn-out, corny fatwas and ridiculous encyclicals for new comedy sketches
Choosing rationalism over scripture despite the dubious loss of their gilded, antique heavens
Respecting their ancient wisdom but rejecting those who use it now merely as a means to power

Condemning them to publicly self-critique their horrid jihads and crusades as they serve the poor
Chanting mindless rosary mantras to free our minds from the stale doctrines to which they bound us
Praying for reason to cast off their self-granted holy rationalization of ongoing immoral acts
Discovering that a religion must be discarded just like any no longer credible scientific theory

It Ain’t My Libtard Place

How you choose to burn the fuel you’ve by God paid for ain’t no freekin concern of mine
It ain’t none of my business how much noise your gas-powered toys jam down everbody’s ears
I shouldn’t mention that your emissions foul the air for myself and all of our descendants
I just need to shut the fuck up about your so-called recreation destroying our precious national lands

It ain’t my place to say you don’t need a shoddy but retail-outlet-sized house for 4 people
Who am I to tell you to help curb overpopulation by limiting your precious children?
How dare I suggest our traditional values to be merely some recently ginned-up political advertising?
On which socialist authority do I demand that you lose a few pounds of your pseudo-muscular fat?

I shouldn’t say that we don’t have a god-given right to cheap goods made by asian slave labor
By whose socialist decree do I try and make you go out and do some boring and stupid exercise?
It takes me a lot of gall to say your kids should learn grammar and spelling before they start texting
How dare I put the ecosystems that support us all in front of your good jobs and family welfare?

It ain’t my business if you choose to use your idling truck for an overweight personal air-conditioner
By what right do I ask you to turn down the music after you paid to get into this here campground?
it takes me a lotta cowardly nerve to say that we need to drastically reduce military spending
It’s way elitist of me to contend that you’ll only ever fight global warming with your thermostats

It ain’t my place to criticize a bailout for your over-leveraged, underwater home loan
Who gave me the authority to demand that you drive some skinny vegan electric car?
Why should I think you should take interest in world events instead of watching NFL and NASCAR?
I got no right to make you give up double meat bacon cheeseburgers or yer 40 oz, Mountain Dew

It ain’t my business that you drive alone to the cube farm in an SUV built for 8 obese adults
How dare I to mutter yer one true god don’t bless America and we really ain’t his one chosen people?
It ain’t any of my concern that Ponzi finance traders make 19000 times more than average folks
Why should I actually care if the future is over-populated, strip-mined, poisoned and always at war?

It ain’t my job to preach that we used up the resources needed to pay the debts we leave behind
Who am I to judge our closeted corporate leaders who may well be full of eternal wisdom?
Why would I think farmers know better than bonus-driven BigAg execs about sustainable methods?
What gives me the right to reset economic priorities based on junk science and fuzzy math scams?

I can’t arrest you for dropping your food wrappers and smoky butts wherever you see fit
It ain’t up to me to get all in up in your face about your comically-wornout, fairytale religions
Nobody appointed me to tell you that you waste all our resources just wasting your precious time
How can I even dare to suggest that them krauts and frenchies might possibly even have a clue?

Who told me I could pester you with this socialist nonsense of climate change and mass extinctions?
It ain’t my place to bore you with trivial details when there’s something good on the big screen
What the hell was I thinking anyway, trying to tell you what’s right and wrong for you to eat?
No need to listen when I say either all of god’s life forms have a soul or none of us actually can

Veil Of Marketing Illusion

Ongoing deep discounts, sales, clearances and special offers build a sense of permanence
Continuous anticipation of quickly-forgotten weekends, holidays and vacations sustains us
The very newest constantly beckons us forward into a quite-obviously, endless tomorrow
A thousand advertisements draw each of us warmly into that timeless consumer firelight

Soothing background music hypnotically imprints us with eternal marketing mantras
Careful spins reformat issues into sound bites that the average 3rd grader can easily digest
Within this media immersion, we dream ourselves passing thru eternity at these daily lives
Homogenized spokesmen blend seamlessly to envelop us in an easily-accepted and secure cocoon

Our lifestyles have reached a permanent climax in the pleasure-seeking 3 minute present
We pre-consciously dismiss evidence contradicting the eternal happily-ever-after diorama
The circle of family and friends bonds us tightly to a shared dream of unending belonging
The void lies almost totally obscured and unconsidered behind our colorful veil of illusion

We need only strive thru all time at becoming the beautiful models their ads portray for us
The infinite circle of merchant-stoked holidays fosters in us a comforting notion of immortality
Together we tread the great wheel of relaxation, refreshment and entertainment
And our bright mega-churches finance a seamless transition to a familiar eternal paradise

Next week’s episodes draw us forward smoothly without any static-filled interruptions
Stopping to smell the roses as we grab the gusto while living for today totally occupies us
The unknowable actual number of our iterations allows us to assume we perform an infinite loop
Cuddly and warm images help obscure the sharply-tattered edges that we must rightly ignore

The afterlife is marketed as the ultimate in all-inclusive vacations in a truly eternal paradise
Those who pass away are expensively packaged for the exciting but safe trip to come
Our powerful mass hypnosis mostly keeps any consciousness of the eternal void at bay
The rapid pace of change obscures well the tiny hourglass filling in right over top of us

The nattering of bobbing media heads lulls us into a comfortable sense of security
Advertiser-safe news holds our focus adjusted safely inside the blinders they so cannily provide
The cartoon theme of Personal Responsibility keeps the disaffected securely in the game
Sacrificing our reason frees us from agitating contemplation of any cracks in the mirror

There is absolutely no reason to think that this consumer lifestyle cycle will ever cease
We walk this treadmill seeing a well-lit and unending path towards the happily-ever-after
Socialists and creationists equally shielded from the near absolute zero of utter black emptiness
Even on our deathbeds we rest assured of an eternal well-being within these shared illusions

A Fable Of Vanishing Breeds

The snowmobiles are disappearin right along with the fluffy white stuff they was ridin on
Them ATVs ain’t near so snarly when daddy ain’t got no job to pay to have them play
Giant SUVs are fading away, unable to compete, just like the them brontosauri
Less drunken numbnuts on financed jetskis are showing up down to the ER ever summer

Spoiled tweenies scattering daddy’s money at the malls are hardly even seen these days
Only a few hardy climate change skeptics still fight on, armed only with their thermostats
Just the rarest free market healthcare blathering is still heard outside of libertarian radio
Fat, damn, pushy, multi-minority women managers are fading away, right along with our prosperity

Shiny, porky, spin doctors on pain meds may finally lose their grip upon our consciousness
But them failed and wornout liberal socialist policies of the past are forgotten just as well
Cosmetically-enhanced parasitic real estate agents in shiny new cars are disappearing
Greasy lying car salesmen are drying up standing around outside closed down dealerships

Itchy apartment cowboys have gunned way-loud, ugly pickups off into a last bleary sunset
Dumbass Harleys are finally going blissfully silent with their loans so far underwater
Even effete luxury yacht owners are scuttling their crafts due to these awful economics
Changing times are sadly grounding more and more useless, un-muffled, toy private planes

Some are even questioning the wisdom of paying $2-300 a month just for a phone
Petcare specialists are suffering along with life coaches, beauticians and pedicurists
We witness proudly-ignorant construction workers being excreted from the middle class
No longer do we hear of expensive solutions to the unsubstantiated issue of CO2 emissions

Cockamamie government funding of the arts and the children of the poor are disappearing
Half-baked notions of some green world have been dampened by the real needs of our economy
Sucking-up middle managers are morphing into overly-chatty but useless home store clerks
Bold credit card debtors try futilely to become balance-free deadbeats with no lender appeal

Our Best and Brightest who actually weren’t, look to start over at trading carbon offsets
Chinese peasant factory workers no longer enjoy 14 hour workdays and sadly return home
The mega-churches are scaling back on expansion plans and reviewing their portfolios
Ill-conceived and grandiose climate change mitigation plans have quietly been shelved

Socialist sustainability fantasies have rightly given way to cutting red tape to save family jobs
Newspapers are being recycled into alternate-fact blogs and corporate entertainment
Poor illegal aliens will shortly attain a majority and have bloodlessly taken all of our places
We have deemed institutions that have already failed us as too big for us to permit to fail

Secretaries are no longer buying rental units or doing quick fix-ups for fast-profit flipping
Far right wingers are finding abortion much more palatable for our Non-Aryan intruders
Squishy, vegan tree-huggers are finally seeing over-hyped organic foods as way overpriced
Looks like even gods chosen people have earned a place on the short list of vanishing breeds

A high self-esteem and vast sense of entitlement

We want stimulating and secure jobs that pay well with lots of free and untaxed health benefits
Yes, and my devotion to my children should be at least a partial criteria for my promotions
We need lots of leisure time to share with our families free from nagging financial worries
Don’t want OUR lives to be totally dominated by such boring demands as work and money

Have to be able to focus on pleasure-seeking and still be pushed up that organization
We should remain in line for fat bonuses without sacrificing our wired online souls
Our precious children shall remain as the first and most important priority of our lives
Wont sacrifice social networking for overly-long periods of like, focused concentration

Striving to fulfill ourselves with an unending list of quickly-forgotten adventure vacations
Still balancing work against life even though our jobs are so quickly being offshored, forever
We demand that we be accommodated - Even as they have us train our 3rd world replacements
More fast-food family time in front of corpro-entertainment is what nurtures our spirits

We need space to assimilate the fractal twittering in which we have immersed ourselves
More and more we choose to chat online over struggling with whatever project schedules
A high self-esteem and vast sense of entitlement ensure that we maintain a proper focus
We need to balance this work life with high CO2 emission trips to extreme sports venues

The Music is important and streaming services are setting us free from tired office slavery
Just got to have an investment home but there’s no time to try and learn to take care of it
Looking for more, over the screaming kids and squawking media during our own free time
We demand a richly rewarding sex life, colorful entertainment and a good night’s sleep

Need time to shuttle children to and fro and it better not be held against me by the boss
Quite happy using a negative savings rate for all the best in life, which we so richly deserve
They simply must keep increasing our benefits without ever mentioning any higher taxes
No way are we letting our short and precious time here be frittered away on trivial jobs

If they expect me to learn some lame new skills they better be paying me to do it from home
Going to free up some home gaming time nuking instant dinners and setting paper plates
Look, my kids and family are what’s important but I’ll sue if I don’t get the raise he does
You might be my boss, yet I answer only to my personal savior during our private dialogs

You best care for Mother and insure my kids without some death panel healthcare takeover
Won’t fret over the fine print technical details if there’s a catchy sound bite available
Gotta balance my tired job, sullen offspring and lying greasy politicians with hyped media events
Looking for more than being a veal calf in some prairie dog cube farm, even if it’s in hi-def 3D

Went to a couple yoga classes and got a few cotton shopping bags around here somewhere
Wont see me end up eating and draining thru tubes that are changed out by low-paid immigrants
Eyeing a 300 hp hybrid and thinking about subsidized solar on top of my un-insulated roof
Looking way beyond the mundane rat race almost every Sunday down at our mega-church

So, you can tell I do see there’s so much more to life and that I carefully balance, Having It All

God Almighty, Sure: He’ll Resurrect Ya’

god almighty, you just bet ya’
don’t need no holy scriptures or blessed servants, truth be told
god almighty, yes indeed
omniscient and omnipotent, mindless, and just plain stone cold

god almighty, don't you forget
no truths revealed or tithes required
god almighty, step right up
no heaven, hell or rebirth awaitin when you’re retired

god almighty, hallelujah
got no mind that could even test your faith
god almighty, listen to them preach
there’s nothing there upon which their story’s based

god almighty, keep the faith
for they ain't no jesus checkin’ up on your case
god almighty, give us strength
heart as warm and deep, as empty space

god almighty, by our devotion
both good and evil as fictional as eternal grace
god almighty, clap your hands
already enjoyed that afterlife, before you even began

god almighty, raise your voices
those religions just fog your vision
god almighty, brothers and sisters
prepare to find out that god aint on no mission

god almighty, hear our prayers
there’s no mind to process what it cannot sense
god almighty, stand behind us
only our imagination covers their false pretense

god almighty, be a witness
our faint prayers got no place to go
god almighty, let us testify
there is no judgment of the river flows

god almighty, deliver us please
peepin only to each other as darkness grows
god almighty, bless us, oh, our lord
just as deserving as your most black of crows

Disentangling Our White Noise

A constant background noise; especially: One that drowns out other sounds
The void left by the forgotten songbirds is seamlessly filled by smarmy advertising messages
The roaring diesel fumes wafting softly into her crib do not stir this safely sleeping urban infant
News reports of inept, corrupt and wasteful governance no longer provoke any real response
Endless sad studies are smothered behind the deafening background noise we continuously create

Wild fish are not startled by gently falling acid rain from distant hissing coal stacks
The awkward silence of a clear-cut is unnoticeable atop growling wreckreational vehicles
Nobody leaps to the rescue of croaking frogs replaced by giant, rumbling bulldozers, once again
Dirty waters and climate change now lie safely outside our self-circumscribed hearing range

Screams from the refugee camps are muffled by our shopping, work and entertainment activities
Constant identical reports of even more extinctions aren’t going to motivate anyone again
The ever-dirtier business of politics no longer galvanizes the jaded multitude even a bit
People docilely accept that in good times or bad, the rich will profiteer at their expense

Blathering leaders are not expected to solve real problems correctly, cheaply or on time
Our loud and illiterate offspring are simply part of a vast and privatizing, comforting white noise
The unfortunate are blown off behind our sunglasses, earbuds and cynically-texting smirks
Even Scot-free bailouts of unregulated legal swindlers who are ruining our lives doesn’t move us

Ever more wasteful borrow-and-spend programs cannot provoke some mighty voter wrath
Continuous broadcast of morally repugnant crimes have worn out our emotional responses
Distress cries that might otherwise slow our progress are safely obscured by a soothing traffic roar
The wise voices of our ancestors have been attenuated into the meaningless background noise

That invisible, anonymous CEOs are naturally worth their guaranteed millions is taken at face value
It is accepted that gutting our futures thru offshoring should earn them more whopping bonuses
That they merged and downsized us forever for quick profits will not set us upon them
We tacitly accept the morality of efforts to evade the spirit of our laws via compulsive loopholeing

Un-inspected, adulterated foreign food ingredients will not rouse us up off our beloved couches
Omnipresent evidence of over-population is obscured by the simple crush of so many bodies
The voice of reason is smothered by our hoarse attempt to curse over their many tangled jingles
That our own thoughts must now be produced as shouts is not perceptible to us within the din

There’s really nothing between the inaudible lines blurring advertising, news and entertainment
Our crumbling infrastructure does not decay nearly loudly enough to claim even a little attention
Endless strident sound bite repetition completely deadens the occasional quiet and reasoned debate
The deafening sound of devastating warfare drowns out those faint, weak-kneed cries for peace

Relentless repetition of myriad, simple but cleverly-coded messages digitally layers our angry brains
A world of screams and shouts and tears are melded into a featureless but high-decibel abstraction
Ungodly special effects are launched which cannot gain attention for more than a few seconds
Loud, un-syncopated random outbursts occur so fast as to blend into a surrounding roar

This deafening white noise creates our privacy and thereby we think, preserves our sanity
But the vast silence of the void that surrounds us still terrifies as it makes its now rare appearance

We’ll Never Quite Reach Nothing

Human influence asymptotically approaches nothing as time approaches infinity
Even the effects of our own tiniest efforts cannot ever shrink to absolutely nothing
They can’t ever become smaller than say, the background radiation from the Big Bang
Their gracefully infinite approach to nothing is an enduring tribute to our wanton fervor
Still, even our greatest fall as far, and just as quickly, as those we deem to be the least among us

For, after all, there’s always another half the distance towards emptiness to which to decay
It doesn’t matter if the remainder is but infinitesimally larger than nothing
The ripples of our actions can be divided forever and still retain all their information
Concurrently, the amplitude of their influence infinitely approaches an unreachable zero

But the dilution of our acts is further complicated by their mixing with those of all others
For though they still exist independently, like choppy waves, they can never be separated
So well are they homogenized that they could not be re-distilled
So thoroughly are they mixed that they are effectively perfectly encrypted

Still, the reaction of our great deeds and shameful acts cannot ever amount to nothing
The time frame or the distance that they might have traveled quit simply makes no difference
Even the ever-decreasing density of expanding space cannot quite erase us totally
Verily, none of us can ever be reduced to nothing in the lifetime of this one universe

Our venal gossip passes unchanged through the eons and is still different to each listener
Drunken shouts will echo hoarsely thru time, each retaining every slurred and cursing syllable
Catchy advert jingles tinkle merrily on, unheard and unheeded across the march of time
The empty promises of our leaders cannot totally dissipate despite their utter lack of substance

The far-reaching after-effects of our numbing sports extravaganzas will carry on forever
The wondrous results of our faith-based initiatives will withstand the test of all time
The benefits of our wars of liberation will live on long after these noble efforts are completed
Just so, the marvelous dragon flies crushed flat on you car cannot ever really fully disappear

Even our everlasting beauty and truth persists despite infinite attenuation
Our context-free morals defy the test of time, simply awaiting their own re-discovery
The beliefs we held in some eternal heaven shall carry on, even though they are simply fairytales
And so we see, it’s really not for a cosmic nothing that we eat, sleep, shit, fight, shout and fuck

Namaste, Butthead

    नमस्ते
Namaste, oh, venerated Master of the Universe, the divine in me recognizes the divine in you
Surely you are the Best and the Brightest as evidenced by your truly transformational greed
Greetings, oh beloved next generation whom we have so carefully brought forth and protected
Soon you must ignore us as but irrelevant and doddering, purposeless and lost, old fools

I recognize in your greasy and sweating obesity the effort to attend to that internal eternal
Layers of fat distancing you from the illusory clamor of the too material and very temporal world
Namaste, oh wise and beneficent CorproExecs, meditating inside safely locked compounds
Your lack of morals reflective of the Great Void that you will so soon rejoin once again, forever

Namaste, to our eternally patient and long-suffering domesticated, vegetarian cousins
Our industrially-efficient, franchised holocaust surely earns each of you so much good karma
Salutations oh lawyers, your gifts wasted on forms of deliberate and unnecessary over-complication
Now that you hate yourself and your once-honored profession, I would almost share your pain

I bow to you - Fat and loudly cursing, proudly illiterate, drunken, redneck fellow pilgrims
May your ATVs and pickups, jetskis, snowmobiles, dirtbikes and speedboats always loudly bray
Namaste, rich and well-connected son whose only real job has been as a political sock puppet
Greatest success on your new career as elder statesman, we await your fairytale memoirs

Namaste, my criminal brother, clinging to your brutal lifestyle like a wet rat in a dirty flood
I respect your cruel focus like the looming empty eternity into which we are both certainly slipping
Yaar, I feel that overwhelming force which drives your greedy and so short-term ambitions
I honor your selfish centering amid this turbulent confusion that leaves us with but a hazy blur

I nod in admiration, holy snake oil salesman cloaked in odd vestments and stale traditions
Making an honored, tax-free living pimping worthless divine life insurance on fictional eternal souls
Namaste to my 1 billion brothers shackled to unspeakable poverty and inescapable filth
We could each share about 1/5 of a cent and exhaust the $2M they say I need for my retirement

Namaste revered arms-producing protectors, for holding phony bogeymen away from our shores
We dare not speak against fat annual budget increases lest we be labeled Soft On Defense
I watch in awe there, my target market brother, as you manage to ignore so many issues
Your Zenlike focus upon consumerism blocking out the squishes foolish socialist squeaking

I salute your botox and cosmetic surgeries, your hair dyes, implants and your miracle fat melters
For surely these all help you down that great Middle Way towards a wider cosmic understanding
Namaste young peasants working 14 hour days, sleeping 20 to a room who earn $100 a month
I support your struggle for a better life by charging the cheap goods you make but cannot afford

Namaste, all my fundamentalist brothers of every ignorant, uncompromising and angry stripe
I recognize your merciless, amoral righteousness as a but a short, violent prelude to eternal paradise
May your devotion to the mindless pleasure of explosively-empty corpro-entertainment be exalted
For just how far can it be from the enlightenment gained by daily repeating Om Mani Padme Hum?

We Burn In Each Other’s Hell

‘Quite literally, one man’s perfect heaven is another’s absolute hell’
I’ll always be with her in those early days back when we traveled lightly far and wide together
She’ll spend most of our time at the tiny cottage by the lake where her tulips opened every spring
Saint Mother wants nothing more than to be able to dote upon her dead son, for all time
He most surely rots in hell for his lifelong addiction to violent crime and various drugs

His vision of heaven was just to be left alone with his own solitary pursuits
She had always wanted to meet and to really get to know him intimately
All 5 of the dogs we had thru the years, will, of course, be a part of our afterlife
Somehow we shall be able to always pay sole attention to each of them, all at the same time

The fondest family dream of one of the kiddies was just to all be together once again
For Mommie and Daddie, just seeing each other again would be part of their burning in hell
I wont hear you blatting your fool Harley thru eternity as I slip quietly thru the forests
My children’s mother never forgot me, but I’ll be with the trophy wife who conned me

I always hated my lazy, fat, foul-mouthed sister-in-law, but loved my darling spouse
They got along so well that, of course, she shall dwell right next door to us in paradise
I remembered my brother best when we were boys, bluegill fishing at the cottage
In my kids heaven there is the beery uncle who smilingly picked them up with one giant hand

He relaxed in the garden of delights as promised by his beloved Quoran
We will dwell, of course, in the house of our fundamentalist lord in a puffy Christian heaven
Their Jihadi suicide martyrs lay forever with 17 virgins in a paradise of Sharian ease
From our heavenly vantage point we watch them suffer in a hell where they must always remain

They went on to unknowably more punishing rebirths but with at least a hope of eventual escape
I, however, was condemned to hell forever for my puny acts in but a single wasted lifetime
His favorite team would always reign as champions in his lamely shallow idea of paradise
Likewise, all the hated enemy’s fans would find the same vapid dream coming true as well

Each one true god’s heaven must surely be separated from those of the other unbelievers
But all men shall dwell together in brotherhood and understanding in eternal paradise
The blind shall finally see the human form in all its colors and arrangements
The appearance of the fat, ugly or deformed will somehow be invisible or unimportant

Will his fondest dreams of golf and new cars come true or will he be meaningfully enriched at last?
Must I somehow learn to accept and find I love all those many I could not stand my entire life?
Will the dead know our bygone futures and will we know all the dirty secrets of their pasts?
There must be something in the illegible fine print of their disclaimers that we don’t yet understand

We Rocked The World

We really dried them ugly toads right out and ran over the slow snakes and dull turtles
We bulldozed the non-producing meadows with their hapless bugs and useless flowers
We got baby bunnies on the run and the little fawns shake in fear from our tractors
Our monster dams create great lakes for roaring by drunkenly in our oversized speedboats

We rocked that ominous silence with the empty braying of our powerful machinery
By god, our chainsaws showed all of those old growth big trees just how tough we really are
Replied quickly, ‘who gives a fuck?!’ when they heard that butterflies was disappearing
Casually blew away the precious topsoil thousands of times faster than it had ever been created

Asked just what the heck was it that any freaking polar bear had ever done for us, anyhew
Always pushed extra diesel smoke through our loud mufflers at them squishy vegan cyclists
Exploited the seas with the same brutal efficiency we had trained upon our cows and pigs
Pushed aside the microscopic ocean life forms with a rain of toxic plastic particulates

Realized that ending that liberal global warming scam would pretty much save the earth
Knocked out them lakes and forests with the acid rain from our mighty coal generators
Wiped out worthless desert fish, tiny mice and silly owls that nobody actually cared about
Combined our noisy and drunken recreation with energy-guzzling environmental destruction

Showed our superiority by increasing our population even as we mass-extinguished other species
Fought against climate change by adjusting our thermostats to suit our imported gym shorts
Disdainfully threw out valuable recyclables in brave, libertarian defense of our personal freedom
Said our god granted only us eternal souls, dominion over the earth and a duty to be fruitful

Viewed greedy, unsustainable, eco-devastating development as patriotic economic progress
Went beyond earthly destruction to the massive murder of warfare at every single opportunity
Laughed cynically about their bleeding heart concern over a few miserable little songbirds
Smashed the ancient mountain tops down into their valleys, gouged out the coal and then left

Harshly mocked their profitless recycling, raw veggie diets and misguided environmentalism
Slaughtered the albatross and dolphin as blind collateral damage in our ocean wide strip-mining
Manufactured our food with all of the care the asians used in mass producing plastic imports
Deftly fragmented habitat and cut off migration routes without so much as even trying…or noticing

Adopted as beloved corpro-sports symbols the revered creatures we had exterminated centuries ago
Did not notice the bees disappearance before we had even learned of their importance
Replied disinterestedly: ‘Huh’ when told that millions of trees were dying all across the West
Asked what was wrong with these people who were all so worked up about them stupid frogs and shit

So what if we filled some stupid seals milk with PCBs and messed up a few lame fish with hormones?
Remained blissfully unaware as invasive plant species spread and wrecked entire ecosystems
Made damn sure our priorities were the family, our economy and a strong national defense
Slept securely, having bargained our fictional souls for the imaginary heaven of our own one true god

You’ll Become Nothing In The Void

An insecurity-inflamed petty ego drove you like some vile moth toward the hot media lights
You will get to enjoy an eternal, unconscious respite in utter darkness, near absolute zero
The greed that drives you to such heights during your short, selfish life will abruptly end
Afterwards others will briefly find new baubles to live for, but you won’t be aware of them

The effect of the big lies you spread will quickly recede to the cosmic background level
You will feel nothing of that and neither will you ever be conscious of anything at all again
The  power you wield now shall be taken from you, at the very latest, just at your passing
Not to worry, that nagging need shall disappear, along with all the rest of your venal thoughts

You wont be punished for scamming them with bogus heavenly insurance for their fictional souls
For neither you nor your foolish flock shall dwell anywhere, any longer, for any time at all
Now, your too-clever loopholeing earns you a fortune and the respect of your one-track peers
But, there’ll never be any more over-complicating obfuscation down in the fine print for you

You avoided any contemplation of the infinite for your entire superficial, yet hollow life
You will have no need of thought and no mechanism for thinking, and you will not know
So you died with the most stupid toys and, yes, you actually did win this lame rigged game
But there’ll be no smirking HappilyEverAfter as your lifeless dust dilutes in outer space

You fulfilled that most sacred and holy of trysts and brought forth the next generation
Yet, none will perceive the eternity after all life on earth ends forever along with our sun
You proved war was inevitable and wasted absurd unquestioned sums providing evidence
You won’t even see you have no real weapons, no enemies to demonize and nothing to protect

You called yourselves Masters of the Universe and knew you were the Best and Brightest
That vain perspective will silently implode as you spiral into the abyss of Ultimate Equality
You made bribed deals, exaggerated claims, omitted details and hid in locked compounds
The suffering of your long disease was but a prelude to your infinite sentence to nothing

You mindlessly wasted, destroyed, polluted and consumed as much and just as fast as you could
Now, be spread randomly for unimaginable eons by the cosmic systems you so carefully ignored
You stood under lights delivering their script, usually believing the nonsense that you read
Darkness shall bind you, silence will fill you, and emptiness shall be your eternal state

You trumpeted Traditional Family Values, preaching that regulation would cost them jobs and money
You will not be greedy, you will not be scheming, you will, like me, simply not be, at all
Your schedule will still contain important items you just had to do, but whose time never came
Soon there will be no pressuring deadlines or over-commitments, yet certainly never any boredom

You stepped on them and kicked them down, backbiting and ass-kissing to that corporate apex
But the incessant greed-blinded insecurity driving you will be lost in infinite dreamless sleep
Surely the simple faith of your lifelong poverty will at last receive its just and everlasting reward
Yea, for certain, ye must never again endure suffering, grief, tears, pain, hunger or anything at all

Analyzing Human Extinction

They might have been viewed as precursors, had their line not ended quite so abruptly
Their culture could possibly have evolved into more than a simple, greedy self-destruction
Maybe their fossils would have been enshrined in chapels, museums and laboratories
Looking at their petrified remains might have even inspired great awe and wonder in little ones

Their lifestyle in an ancient era would have been a lesson to their grateful descendants
Emergence from a rough and tumble past might have resulted later, in a state of grace
Their patchwork history and tattered legends could have easily anchored great cultures
Viewed as ancestors, their violent habits would have been seen in a totally different light

They might have passed on valuable lessons from out of a vast sea of ancient experience
Perhaps distant progeny would have honored them and sought out their blessings
It might have been possible that they formed the stem of a still-flowering species tree
Their DNA could have contributed to something beyond their short, harsh and angry tale

Had their seed carried on, their venal struggles might not now appear so foolish and so vain
Were they not evolutionary dead-ends their violence and waste might possibly make sense
Without wantonly destroying their supporting environment, they could have carried on
Possibly, if they did not extinguish so many other species, they could have even loved one another

Outcomes may have differed if their myths had endowed everlasting souls to all living things
Could have survived had they not gifted themselves exclusive domain over their one planet
Maybe their self-granted commandment to be fruitful resulted in their toxic overpopulation
Certainly the warfare demanded by their many one true gods contributed to their demise

They might not have shambled off into early oblivion had they escaped their own Social Darwinism
If they could have appreciated their inheritance, they might have planned for their legacy
Perhaps not basing their economy on shortsighted greed would have led to more success
Finally taking action only after they had collapsed their ecosystem was not a viable survival strategy

Maybe not gauging their progress solely upon extractive consumption would have helped
Trusting in ponzi perpetual growth instead of steady state survival probably aided their demise
Their never-begotten offspring might not have disdained their elders as irrelevant fools
Had they the sense not to bring on a mass extinction, things might have been very different

Possibly their urge to killing did not serve them as self-appointed stewards of the earth
Maybe market solutions were not appropriate for blindly solving all of their world’s problems
Basing price on demand did not ensure the long-term availability of any of their finite resources
Placing their bloated population’s marketed needs before the one planet that sustained them failed

They might have explored the universe had they not destroyed their own spaceship earth
In the end, their perpetual and expensive warfare did not confer to them any survival advantage
If they had not always followed monomaniacal will-to-power freaks, they might still exist
But, instead, they are rightly known as the precursors of nothing and the ancestors to no living beings

Our Comic Cosmic Rationalizations

They see that it must all be good, for it all amounts to the same in the fullness of cosmic time
We can waste, pollute and destroy since we’re merely a single atom in one infinite universe
Our puny ruins cannot be distinguished from the greater entropy that’s proceeding on, all around us
Doomed as we most surely are, we need not have a care for our actions or our attitudes

We can freely pursue any selfish interest, for it will really make no difference in any possible end
It’s safe to assure them they’re god’s chosen people knowing divine retribution is just a myth
Given the Void, any and all political spin or cover-up is justified if it advances our own greedy cause
For the earth is doomed to be swallowed by the sun in the not too distant cosmic future

Practicing Social Darwinism on future generations might actually help make them stronger
We need not burden ourselves with concerns over some future beyond our own event horizon
Given our brief emergence from emptiness, we can, and should, act just to please ourselves
There is good reason to nurture and take advantage of their foolish need to blind faith

The effects of our short population bloom will be so quickly diluted as to be of no concern
Earth has witnessed other mass extinctions and all life on this planet is doomed, in any case
We can blithely finance fictional eternal souls for them, if it gains us riches and control
We may as well call the suffering and death of war inevitable if it helps fulfill our need to power

In the end, conservation and preservation amount to as much as exploitation and depredation
We might as well profit from these random yet happy circumstances that support us right now
We can languish in cruel poverty or struggle to vast riches, and it winds up all the same
There’s no point in saving if some fool will offer us free credit during these short lives

We’re going the way of the dinosaurs, only faster, so it’s best to quickly grab all we can
There’ll be no way to tell and nobody to notice even if you could save just a few trees
The good and the bad are indistinguishable in the ash and the dust to which we return
Our greatest efforts cannot even slightly impair the life force that spreads with the universe

Saving the planet is as fanciful a notion as the potential reward of an everlasting paradise
Our small choices lie within the mindless, yet absolute certitude, that guides flowing water
Sensibly, we adjust our ethics with the situation, time, place and our current selfish needs
Let them listen to the sound of one hand clapping, even as our other empties their pockets

The unknowable silently rationalizes any action for which we choose to invoke it
Incomprehensible infinity dilutes the effects of all of our acts to an immaterial immeasurability
Our imminent and permanent return to the void best frames all of our plans for the future
Thus, may shortsighted and self-centered concerns cosmically guide our pursuit of happiness

Gone Off in Empty Silence With So Much Unsaid

You had always lived like the time to sagely compose your real message was still to come
But actually you’ve gone off quite silently now, and it seems likely, into eternal emptiness
You felt you waited patiently, still ready to make your statement or to take some real action
Now, it’s hard for others to really know if you were the silent type, or just another empty shell

Gone off in silence but not without leaving a wide trail of random noise and messy litter
As far as we can tell, the space you leave behind still unsullied by any conscious reflection
Your blurry recollections, sloppily stored, simply evaporate, unsorted and un-distilled
That is, finished but not summarized, finalized but not completed, gone but not packed up

Went away unprepared, unwilling and unable to form even a short and sensible goodbye
Borne off, you thought, before your time, with yet so much you had never even started
Carried off of the couch to the hospital, then to the cemetery without even a decent interval
You raised your hand far too late, buried without even having thought out a real question

Gone beyond our limited communications even should you find your true voice at last
We will label it a so-called mute testimony and say it was really all you planned on leaving
Caught off-guard and carried away in silence, or did you actually have nothing at all to say?
Hey! Nobody could ever read the beautiful thoughts that may have existed, but only in your head

You have departed, having tacitly accepted things as they were going, and are going further still
Now you have left it to us impute your beliefs merely from your mundane habits
We can’t know your brilliance and grand emotions from your so very ordinary life
Though your soul may have been filled to bursting, it has all evaporated, without any residue

Your wondrous family surrounds you now, but you call each one by a different name
With the drugs, you cannot realize that they know you’ve already gone off in silence
The past is closing in around you because you can no longer process the present
Though your greatest works still await you, there is only a future that you will not experience

Yet, there still are those many things you would have, could have, and, likely, should have done
In your mind, you kept reserved the future for those special tasks that you were born to do
But the short time you paused was confused by a drugged pain, in impersonal surroundings
The last thing you read was another bill and the last thing you wrote was a check

You did not plan on your self-numbing repetitions halting without some decent interlude
There was only time to cap off your life with a short period of deliriously painful suffering
Torn away so quickly and completely with barely time for the briefest of regrets
Gone off in a silence that we can only try to differentiate from a simple & mindless emptiness
